Mobile Devices/PDA
CIMS integrates with Principalm directly to provide the ultimate PDA experience for having immediate access to key student information on your PDA.
With Principalm there are automated options for updating information and keeping student information and pictures current between the PDA and CIMS. This is a full blown application. Contact Principalm for more information and pricing.

Alternatively, CIMS can produce downloads to a simple database application that must be resident on your PDA (Handibase). This takes more user knowledge and is not a canned application - meaning user will be presented with a spreadsheet like view of students and their schedules. CIMS has two options:
- Employee/Staff information available to admin/superintendent level personnel or location Administrators
- Student Demographics and Schedules for School Administrators (using HandBase database PDA S/W)
Handbase works with a multitude of PDA devices. Refer to their website re: compatible Operating Systems and Devices. If you are using PDA devices for student, speed is important when it comes to locating student schedules. Always look for a PDA that has maximum MHz,
ie: when the Palm III came out it is working at 16Mhz which means large high schools wait 30 seconds to see a schedule.
There are two different methods for populating the PDA devices from CIMS:
The remainder of this document deals with method #1. If you are getting into PDA technology in a big way, consider talking with your district technical department to setup method #2.
